Royal Shrewsbury NHS Trust - Pharmacy Storage Solutions

Selected by Imran Haniff Chief pharmacist and Clinical director at Royal Shrewsbury NHS Trust, to re fit their Inpatient Dispensary Processing Area and stores. In this 1^st Phase, we have added our PSS shelving system to one wall creating a wall of pull out stock drawers to offer a closer stock presence to the processing or ward deliveries. The central island is designed for a pass through center bench for validation and packing on different sides. This central bench will maximise the processing within the area and create an efficient space with less travel for staff and quicker stock selection. There are 4 wall mounted processing bays in an L shape to maximise the use of space for seated staff for validation and processing of script requests.

The installation was completed over weekend including the removal of existing fixtures and installation of the PSS equipment. All that remains will be some re-decoration and installation of more electrical sockets and data. Whole program completed within 4 days minimising disruption to services. Phase 2 to follow soon.

“We are a medical centre based in Warwickshire with an attached dispensary. Richard and his team 7 years ago transformed our dispensary into a modern, efficient, lean and practical working space for our growing dispensary team. We couldn’t believe the difference. “The old dispensary was very tired and not fit for purpose, so I contacted PSS Ltd and spoke with Richard Kay, Director. Richard visited the practice and worked with me and my dispensary manager on a practical design that would address the issues we were having. “The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Pharmacy team worked with PSS on the end-to-end 250k refurbishment of the pharmacy stores area during 2020. The project took 6 months to complete. Bespoke shelving and storage solution where designed and fitted to support the unique shape of our pharmacy stores area. The team at PSS were very flexible working with our estate department and accommodating outside of pharmacy opening hours to reduce the impact on the service and stake holders. The attention to details and immediate response to request of change by the staff working with the storage solution was second to none.
